On Sunday the 7th of September 2014, the Wild Camel Protection Foundation (WCPF), a UK registered charity, is holding a second Camel Race Day at Hole Park, Rolvenden, Kent TN17 4JA, by kind permission of Mrs and Mrs Edward Barham.
There will be Camel Rides, Side Shows and Pig Racing. Mongolian wrestlers and singers will participate. The day begins at 2.00 pm and ends at 5.00 pm.
All this activity is linked to raising funds for the protection of the 8th most critically endangered large mammal on the planet – the wild double-humped camel. There are under 1000 wild camels in the world, all of them situated in north-west China and south-west Mongolia and the WCPF has helped the Chinese establish one of the world’s largest nature reserves, the Lop Nur Wild Camel National Nature Reserve. WCPF also runs a wild camel breeding centre in Mongolia, the only one of its kind in the world.
