All this activity is linked to raising funds for the protection of the 8th most critically endangered large mammal on the planet – the wild double-humped camel. There are under 1000 wild camels in the world, all of them situated in north-west China and south-west Mongolia and the WCPF has helped the Chinese establish one of the world’s largest nature reserves, the Lop Nur Wild Camel National Nature Reserve.
